Mosquito Prevention 101 from Clarke :
Eliminate standing water sources around your property to reduce the potential for mosquito breeding. Wonder where to start? Here are 6 good practices:
Remove yard debris, especially any old tires – water in tires can result in thousands of mosquitoes; drill holes in the bottom of recycling containers and toss water collecting on lids; clear roof gutters of debris; clean pet water dishes regularly; check and empty water in any children’s toys; and change the water in bird baths at least once a week.
“Encouraging your neighbors to eliminate sources on their own property is critical to a community-wide mosquito control program,” says AMCA Technical Advisor Dan Markowski. “Mosquitoes require stagnant water to complete their life cycle. If their water source is eliminated, so are their offspring.”
