The Village Board recently approved a new Strategic Plan for 2022-2025, with the following mission, vision, and value statements:
Our mission is to achieve excellence in the planning, management, and delivery of services in a reliable, efficient, fiscally, and environmentally responsible manner that enhances the quality of life for all those living, working, or conducting business in the Village
Our vision for 2030, is that Huntley will be known as the premier location in the region offering a healthy, well-balanced, prosperous, safe and friendly community for all because of its dedication to building community partnerships and attracting high quality residential, medical, commercial, and light industrial development
We value being the community of choice by exhibiting friendliness, teamwork, public engagement, respect, integrity, professionalism, innovation, and transparency
The following strategic focus areas and goals for the next four years set the path for moving forward to make Huntley the community of choice within the region:
A Healthy, Safe, and Attractive Community – Providing a safe, healthy, and attractive community for all those who live in, work in, and visit Huntley
A Strong Local Economy – Having residents choose to live in Huntley, along with businesses which choose to locate or expand in the Village, while the downtown serves as a vibrant destination place for the community
An Engaged Community – Offering a wide variety of community events for all age groups, building community partnerships to address community interests, and implementing a coordinated branding and messaging program to promote the “Huntley” brand
A Forward-Looking Community – Engaging in long-range planning, managing infrastructure assets for today and the future, and pursuing innovation and implementation of technology to enhance service delivery
Organizational Excellence – Providing the highest level of customer service, maintaining an unwavering commitment to fiscal responsibility, and emphasizing a conscientious workplace culture that is open, high-energy, nimble and resilient
Development activity in 2021 began with the annexation and development approvals for 261 acres on Freeman Road, leading to the construction of a 630,000 square-foot Amazon Receive Center and a second Amazon e-commerce facility of 1.1 million square feet. Both projects are projected to create 1,500 new jobs. Interest in additional development around the interchange is very strong in light of Amazon’s location.
Residential activity continued in Talamore with townhomes, single-family, and age-targeted single-family construction. DR Horton received approvals and began construction on the remaining unit of Cider Grove, which includes 180 single-family units. M/I Homes presented concept plans for 173 single-family homes on 82 acres behind the Municipal Complex, and will go through the formal approval process in early 2022 to start construction in the spring.
It was great to see everyone again at the Farmers Market, Concerts on the Square, 1st Fridays, and other community events. We thank you for supporting our local businesses, and encourage you to shop local as often as possible!
