A welcome from the Village President
Dear Huntley Residents,
What an incredible year 2022 was! Huntley continues to be a community that we can be proud of - proud of our residents and businesses, the services provided by the Village, and the overall welcoming feeling that has been a fundamental element of Huntley’s history.
The Village continues to experience steady growth and improvement. Development activity in 2022 included ongoing residential construction in the Talamore and Cider Grove subdivisions that will continue in 2023. The commencement of a new single family home development by M/I Homes to include 173 homes on 82 acres behind the Municipal Complex is expected to begin in the spring.
Downtown revitalization projects are well underway with the redevelopment of the former Catty Corporation facility, now referred to as The Cornell, into a refreshed, modern building featuring 37 residential units on Church Street. The former Fire Station #1 on Coral Street will soon be home to a new restaurant and 18 residential units. Additional parking options totaling 185 new spaces will be completed in 2023 to accommodate all who enjoy our downtown areas.
Businesses find value in Huntley - the proximity to the tollway and airports, the quality employee base of the residents in Huntley and the business friendly climate continue to entice small businesses and corporations alike. Hampton Inn, Huntley’s first hotel, opened in 2022 and accommodates our business and recreational travelers. Amazon is the newest major employer, with the XL Logistics facility now open and the Receive Center under construction, we can expect over 1,500 new jobs and other financial benefits to the Village in coming years. We thank you for supporting our local businesses and encourage you to shop local whenever you can!
The Village Board plans to maintain the positive momentum with further initiatives in the new year. Village departments, as always, will strive to maximize the value of your tax dollars, and will invest in those capital projects that are necessary to maintain the safety and curbside appeal of our Village.
I hope you are ready for a variety of events and fun times in 2023! The Huntley Farmers Market offers year-round access to local growers and makers. The summer concert series in the Town Square entertains all ages on Tuesdays during the summer, and the 1st Friday Nights event series is a great option for adults looking for a fun night out on the town during the warm months. The Fourth of July fireworks, Veterans Day Ceremony and A Very Merry Huntley activities bring the community together each year, and we look forward to celebrating with you again this year!
Be sure to visit the village website to stay informed with updates and event information. The monthly Village Journal, Huntley Happenings email notifications, and Village of Huntley social media pages are also great resources for up-to-date information throughout the year.
I look forward to seeing you around the Village!Sincerely,
Mayor Timothy Hoeft
