Crime Prevention & Public Safety Programs

Basset Training
Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education and Training (BASSET) is the State of Illinois' responsible beverage seller/server program. Under the licensing and regulatory auspices of the Illinois Liquor Control Commission, BASSET is designed to encourage profitable, responsible, and legal alcohol sales and service.

Bicycle Registration

This free program allows you to register your bike in case it is ever lost or stolen.

Bike Patrol
The Huntley Police Department utilizes the bicycle patrol as a means to get into closer contact with the community, as weather conditions permit. 

Child Safety Seat Installation and Inspection
We provide installation and inspection for Huntley residents to help educate on how to give your child a safer ride.

Citizen Police Academy
The Citizen Police Academy is a ten week program designed to give the participants more knowledge of the Huntley Police Department.

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program helps train people to be better prepared to respond to emergency situations in their communities.

Domestic Violence Assistance
The Huntley Police Department offers assistance and resources to victims of domestic violence and those who fear they may become victims.

Huntley Safety 1st
Huntley Safety 1st is a monthly education series written by the staff of the Huntley Police Department. On the first of each month, we provide citizens with information on a different public safety related issue.

Medication Disposal Service
The Huntley Police Department now provides a drop-off location for the safe disposal of prescription medications.

Missing Children
Information and resources are available to those who have reported a minor missing.

Neighborhood Watch

Neighborhood Watch is “crime prevention through community partnership” with groups designed to enable the Police Department and the community to work together to reduce crime. 

Premise Alert Program

The Premise Alert Program allows those with special needs or disabilities, or their guardians, to voluntarily provide personal information to Public Safety Agencies in the State of Illinois for emergency dissemination to police, fire, and EMS personnel.

Project Childsafe

The goal of Project ChildSafe is to promote safe firearms handling and storage practices among all firearm owners by distributing free gun locking devices. 

S.A.F.E. Huntley
The Sensory-Friendly Accessible First Responder Experience (S.A.F.E. Huntley) is designed to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for individuals with developmental disabilities and their care-givers to interact with local first responders.

Social Services Program
The Huntley Police Department employs a Police Social Worker to provide specialized assistance to residents in the community beyond the normal scope of police work. 

Speakers and Station Tours
Arrange for your group to learn more about us and various law enforcement and public safety related topics.

Special Task Forces

The Huntley Police Department officers participate in a number of special task forces.

Vacation House Watch 

The Police Department will monitor vacationers’ homes when requested, based upon the availability of a Patrol unit.

Walk & Talk
Patrol Officers are encouraged to get out of their squads to walk and talk with residents and at the businesses within the Village. 

Women's Safety Series
We are proud to present a free 3-week Women's Safety Series that addresses the unique safety challenges that women face in today’s environment.
