Venture One Annexation and Development Plan

Over the past months, the Plan Commission, Village Board and staff worked on a project (previously referred to as Project Pumpkin) with Venture One Acquisitions to annex and develop the property commonly known as the Stade Farm, 41W368 Freeman Road (across from the former outlet center). On March 11, the Village Board Meeting approved the zoning request as well as the request to annex the 261 acre property to the Village of Huntley. Venture One has begun groundwork on the southern 152 acres and will develop a distribution center totaling approximately 630,000 square feet. Amazon has signed a lease with Venture One and will be operating a Receive Center on the site. Amazon expects to create up to 1,000 jobs, including both warehouse and office positions. Employees at the Amazon Receive Center will support customer fulfillment by receiving large orders of inventory and redistributing products to fulfillment centers across the company’s operations network. The investment in the Village is approximately $100 million. The remaining land will be developed at a later date by a user to be determined in the future. The project is expected to be completed in 2022.

We are excited to see what lies ahead as we welcome Amazon to Huntley.”
